The All About Dogs show, was the most action packed, comprehensive outdoor canine event in the UK. Thousands of people including enthusiasts, professionals and dog lovers mixed freely for a fabulous weekend of ‘dogs, dogs and more dogs’ recently at The Brentwood Centre Showground.
Despite the unsettled weather over the weekend, with heavy rain arriving at lunchtime on the Sunday, the show proved to be yet another tremendous success, attracting TV coverage over both days. People had traveled from throughout the British Isles to attend this unique event, with many dog lovers arriving from Europe.
There was a huge opportunity for everyone to become involved in numerous activities around the massive showground including showing, obedience, agility, flyball, or entering in the Scruffts competition.
The Jettydog competition, which involved dogs running down a specially constructed ramp and ‘long jumping’ into a huge pool, proved very popular. So much so, it even drew participants from Toronto in Canada and Ohio in the USA.
The 24 classes in the companion show was packed and boasted record numbers taking part with classes of pedigree, cross-breed and novelty. The six rings of obedience which was staged by Ditton Dog Training Club proved to be extremely busy over the whole weekend.
Many people entered the Good Dog Junior, Bronze, Silver or Gold Competition. This is aimed at the family pet owner, its great fun and how exciting to have a diploma with your dogs name on it!
The ‘best trick’ or ‘best retrieve’ competition for the family pet took place in Arena 2 each day. There was lots of excitement for both handlers and dogs.
Britain’s top Police Dogs traveled from throughout the British Isles to compete, in the Inter- Counties Police Dog Trial. Other Service dogs attending the show and demonstrating their skills in the main arena were Prison GP dogs and Drug Search Dogs as well as SARDA CanTech Search and Rescue Teams. Also in the main arena were the unique Lurcher Display team and Lowestoft Dog Display Team.
